Default Fixing my 1200 (again)

Hello all. Spring is here and so is mowing season

As some may remember I had a horrible vibrating with my 1200's driveline last fall. I parked it for the winter. So I decided to just pull it back out and check things to see if I can figure it out.

Right away, I found one issue, the spiral pin had worked it's way out of the transmission yoke. I'm not sure if that's what was causing the vibration, or if the vibration caused it to work it's way out. It certainly didn't help things. It's tight where it is, and I can't pull it out with pliers. The other side doesn't appear to be too bad. If I remember correctly Id didn't drive it through very far because I didn't have a punch handy. Foolish me for not going back and finishing it right.

Once I disassembled the clutch (thanks again TwoTon for your jig plans!), I checked to see if it was straight. Using my workbench and a straight edge, it appears to be straight and true. However, I noticed the yoke on the drive shaft had one hole wallowed out. I had a spare yoke from my other driveshaft and decided to swap them out. After trying I couldn't get a pin straight through it. It appears the hole in the driveshaft is slightly off centered. The PO must have "fixed" that issue by widening the hole in the yoke to make er fit

So.. Jeff, you'll be getting an order from me for a driveshaft.

Hopefully this goes smooth, and this thread is just me babbling about how I fixed my 1200... we shall see

FYI, I broke ground last month and the framers start Thursday. Thanks everyone for the input. We're a bit excited here in the hills of WV. Fortunately the 149 hasn't missed a beat helping me haul wood and drag brush out of the way... and I picked up a much needed Gravely (although my wife doesn't see it that way ) to do the dirty work
