Getting in deeper 1650 loader+powersteering
In my other thread on the 1650 with loader I just bought I had to remove the head to replace a blown head gasket. Since I was this far I might as well replace the iso mounts so I removed the engine. I then seen that the drive coupling and flex disc joints needed replaced so I removed the driveshaft. Then yesterday I picked up a parts 1864 from member RLause, (Thanks Dick) and decided to use the power-steering and super steer axle from it on the 1650. I got the steering box mocked up yesterday evening and installed the front axle and steering cylinder. The axle slipped right in, and to mount the cylinder all I had to do was drill out an existing hole in the frame and drill one new one. Today I will make up the hydraulic lines and make a coupler for the steering shaft and mast jacket. I will get some pictures later today. I was surprised that it was almost a bolt in operation. Also I was able to modify the 1864 steering box bracket to use the existing manual steering box mounting holes on the frame. This is an easy swap for any wide frame tractor with a ported pump. I might just learn to like a quietline when I am done with this upgrade.
Keep you updated as I go.
