Aparently there isn't anything a complete tune up won't fix, new points, points rod, breather, check valve clearences, and reseat some key wires, fuel treatment in the gas and its running again like it should for the most part.
Still not a fan of the walboro carb, feel like I could really fine tune it if I had a normal carb on here. But it runs without the choke on without sputtering or anything, idles down to a reasonable engine speed, and drives normally again.
If only there was a cub dealer around here that didn't charge me shipping when they order parts, had to go to the JD dealer, which is actually closer, to order my kohler parts.
Now that its running properly again, time to give the paint a refresh, not going to give it a complete resto right now, not till I can find a good hood and fenders becaus these have seen much better days and not worth the time to repair all the pitting in them.
