I know its not a cub but it will be going on one. Seeing everyone post pictures of plow days and other general fun activities with plow has made me a bit jealous. A neighbor has had this sitting as a lawn ordainment for quite a while so I talked him into selling it. I've been told its an Allis-Chalmers/Simplicity 10 inch plow probably from a Big 10. I mostly wanted to show it off but also, I don't know much about Allis stuff or garden plows so I have a few general questions for you gentlemen.
First, if I take off the U part will it work on a normal sleeve hitch? (left most piece in third picture) I don't have a sleeve hitch but planned on building one as my next project. I would prefer not to have to hack up the plow to make it work. I'm one for keeping original if possible in most cases.
Second, I plan on using it with a 149. It will have loaded bar tires and wheel weights. Anything obvious besides a sleeve hitch that I'm missing? I've plowed with our F-30 and pull behind plow but from what I can tell, a garden tractor is a whole different cat.
Third, is a coulter something I should track down before using? We have always had them on bigger equipment. I see some guys run garden tactors with and some without. I was always taught to use them because they help cut up the corn stocks. Don't plan on turning over much corn ground so I don't know how important it is.
Fourth, and I'm hoping there are some AC experts here, if I wanted to clean it up and paint it, is it AC orange in color? I've never really been around AC equipment so I don't know what color it is. I though it was yellow before people told me it was AC.
