Thanks to everyone who wrote in to my question about the 1650.
I had a chance to see it on the weekend and decided against it. It needs a lot of work and I just don't want to take on another project right now.
I'm keeping the 149 but have to admit it is driving me nuts with a hydro leak. I changed the cork gasket at the rearend, the gasket in the middle of the pump, the 3 seals that you can get to, and the big O-ring at the front of the charge pump. It's on jack stands in the garage and I ran it the other day. A couple of hours later there was a drip on the cardboard I placed under the tractor.
Last night I sprayed brake cleaner all over the tranny and I'll run it again.
Hopefully I don't have to tear it apart again. I don't mind pulling the thing apart but I hate losing oil all over the garage floor.
