30 wt is good to run in the late spring/summer/early fall. IH recommended 10wt in the winter but since you can't buy 10wt anymore 10W 30 it is. The 10wt viscosity helps it start when it's cold and lubricates the engine. 30wt, until it warms up, won't do much good trying to lube a piston when it's cold (assuming you get 'er started.) Save the 30wt for summer and go get some 10W 30.
Here is mine ready to go. Oil was changed today.
I've got the biggest CCA battery I could find under the hood and I typically put a trickle charger on it 12 or so hours before I anticipate using it to help turn that big 14 HP over.
