It COULD be about the show, just saying..... I mean after all, you got to take the rear all the way out, and clean it up just to replace a $3 gasket. Now if you were to go ahead and apply some paint and decals, it won't seem like near as much work.
You're right about the show, I wouldn't waste time on blacking the tires, they'll just get dirty next spring.
