Heard a story once (true) about a guy who had a motor lock up on an S-10 pickup. Undaunted, he tore it all down. About halfway though, he realized the motor wasn't stuck. He went ahead and tore it down and rebuilt it. Upon reassembly, he put it all back together, went to start it and it wouldn't turn over. Ended up removing the belt and found the alternator bearings seized tight.
Storal of the morey, check the obvious before you tear it down.... oops. Too late for that.
