IH Cub Cadet 71 gear oil change
Now that I'am ready to paint my spacer rings, I thought I could use up more Cub Cadet paint and finish off the quart. I was worried about the gear oil so thought I should change it and paint the parts. Looking at some of the Member's pictures of this I had to see for myself. Here are some pictures....and as you can see, everything was clean as NEW! I could not believe it, no sludge, no nothing but black-red oil! I would like to believe that by the paint overlap on the diff. cover that this was never opened up since it was installed so many years ago. It was a waste of time, the oil was clean and good for life,.... as far as I'am coincerned and how I treat my tractor. Removed all the bolts in order as to where they live they shall go back. I'd have to say that every bit of a gallon of oil came out. Useing a rubber mallot tapping around the bolt holes became loosend, and one stroke of a puttyknife broke the seal and then quickely filled up my pot I made at work. I tryed to take pictures of just how clean this was. But you just never know. What I know now is that after the morrow, it will be good long after I'am gone! In the morning I shall behold me some Hy-Tran Cub Cadet oil and a gasket. I was wondering about the 15$ gasket....... I know darn well that I could use the cardboard from the 12-pack Miller G. Draft that I have at the ready for a gasket. Well, thats all for now. I will up-date us I go along with re-assembely.
