It's hard to tell from the picture, I was just wondering what the diameter on your center drive pulley is, kinda looks like 5" making it a 44, I'm probably wrong.

Exactly. That's why it's good for a hydro, not so much for a gear drive.

Probably worn out ball bushing and maybe drive shaft too. Ball bushing keeps the shaft running true, rag joint transmits power.
