OK, I'll risk it. No spark. In order of likelihood (most likely to least likely).
At least this is my routine for troubleshooting.
No spark verified by pulling plug and grounding it while cranking.
1. check for 12v at positive side of coil with ignition on. If good, then
2. check for dirty points. clean with some sandpaper or a points file. (80% of the time, this is the problem).
3. Verify continuity from the points lead to a good ground when points are closed.
4. Still no spark, replace the plug (just had one yesterday that was faulty).
5. Check plug wire continuity. Replace/try another.
6. Check coil continuity and resistance. If in spec, replace condenser. If not, replace coil.
OK, I checked 5 things before I got to the coil.
