Default 782 Refurb Thread

I'll start this thread to chronicle some of the process along the way. Can't promise it will be short or interesting, but as I move through the tear down and refurbish, it will give me a chance to ask questions or answer others questions.

Bought this non-running IH built 782 at an estate auction July 16th. The right head and gasket were laying on top of the engine at the time of sale. Rolled it into my garage about a week ago and let the fun begin.

Discovered that it has a Kohler M18 replacement engine. The drive shaft can be rotated and I didn't hear anything suspect inside. Removed the left head and observed both right and left pistons and intake/exhaust valves all move accordingly. Even so, I'm not putting a lot of hope in this engine.

After running some basic wiring diagnostics, found out the seat switch didn't work and no power to the starter. Hot wire to the starter got it making a terrible noise, so needed to get it removed, disassembled and cleaned. Carb is a Walbro and it got removed to be cleaned. Drained oil, which surprisingly, looked really clean.
