Thanks for all the help guys. Between reading all the links Sam provided and doing a little more looking around myself I have quite a list of things to run down now, lol. I think I will go over the deck first so I can cut grass then just go through my list one at a time. After seeing all the gunk that came out of the axle shafts in Sam's pictures that job has moved to the top of the list. The only idiot light that seems to work is the oil light and I'm starting to lean more and more towards getting the axle braces for the rear even though I don't plan to do more than mow with it.
I found another motor for my 582 I think I'm going to pick up in a couple days. I plan to replace it and just keep the plow and chains on it for snow removal duty. Evidently the motor is out of another 582 so it should be a pretty simple swap.
