Please Help Me Save My Cub!
Gentlemen,
I'd really appreciate some advice. So a week and a half ago I was running my 147 hauling the kids around in the wagon after mowing duty and as I'm driving along it just slowed down and quit, just like you throttled down and shut the key off quickly. It would crank but not start at all. Towed it back to the garage and no spark. I ordered a couple new plugs and tested the coil and that seemed to be bad so I ordered a new Bosch blue. Well I put the coil and plug on and still no spark. I pop the points cover off and the Points Slayer I put on a few years ago is covered in oil. Clean it off and try again, no dice.
Well I look back at the instructions for the Point Slayer and it says do not get any petroleum products on it. So I picked figured it's back to points. I picked up some points yesterday and put them on. I have good spark now but it won't come close to starting. It cranks all day but no start. I've set the timing on the SP mark using multimeter and no dice. I've varied the timing back and forth a bit and same result.
Now if I pour some gas in the cylinder and put the plug back in it'll crank a few seconds then run but not well. I don't get what I'm missing and I'm frustrated to the point I'm about ready to sell this thing and but a new XT3.
Any advice/help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Curt
