Many of the guys use a volt meter. I normally use a test light, you can use the light to see in the hole. Attach the clip to the neg. (point side) of the coil, rotate the crank shaft, when the light comes on the "S" should be centered in the hole OR the marks should be lined up. If not move the points and try again until it's right.
