There is a way to this. In order to use the PTO from the 301 you will need to use the crankshaft also. The cranks are the same in the 301,321,and 341. the only thing different are the ends were the PTO goes. The oils pans are all the same to. There are shallow and deep ones,but the bolt holes are the same. The John Deere block should have ears on the bottom of the block. This what is called a wide base. The ears can be machined off, and the gap ( if there is one ) can be welded or brazed shut.
