Changing the Ignition Coil would have NOTHING to do with a charging issue.
I would suggest, that examining the waring harness compared to a wiring diagram to ensure it is wired correctly. Next I would look at all wire connections to see if they are clean and tight. Over charging would lead me to highly suspect the Voltage Regulator. Examine this closely, and change out if need be.
