Default Dad bought a mower.

My dad taught us to mow the lawn and take care of machinery before he taught us to drive. My nephews are 9 and 10 now. He began looking for a hand hydro mower to leave at the farm buildings for the boys to "get started". He has a zero Tank SZ which they can not reach the foot pedals. First he was after a nice looking 1641. But that did not pan out. I sent him a couple of Craig's list postings to look at. A 782 w/ 50" deck was one of them. Turned out to be a mower a friend of his once owned for some 30 years. She smokes a bit but he bought it right. Got it home this morning. Has front hydraulic outlets. The original owners family has the manuals and will get them to him. The KT-17 Series II has alot of crud on top near the oil fill tube. 1552 hours. Runs pretty good but smokes. I am concerned about the engine. Rest of machine is in better than average shape. I am interested in any and all advice on the engine. We are not small engine repair gurus. I have already told him to think repower by way of a donor.
