I just am finishing up putting a Magnum 20 in a 582. It is a direct replacement. The wiring is even correct as the Briggs and Magnum are both magneto ignition.
use the 3 pin driver from the Briggs
use the spacers between the engine plate and bottom of the engine (.469 spacers) (950-3009)
use engine tins from a kt or magnum
This replacement can be made to look almost factory. I have 3 Magnums, they are a great engine if you can find them!
HTH,
Mike
