Yes, I've replaced the condenser & coil with new. The points were fairly new when this started last summer, but I did pick up new points & plug today ... not to be throwing parts at it, but it's due for those anyway, and they're cheap ... so I can eliminate them until it warms up to do more.
It's been sub zero around here, and ice everywhere, so it's not convenient to run it around and get it into "shut down" mode, to check the spark. That's why I'm getting all the info. I can from you guys online while I'm stuck inside.
J Mech, thanks for your input, and your thoughts about the plug wire, regulator, etc. It helps to rule them out. I always appreciate reading your posts - because they always seem to make sense.

Here's a pic of the perpetrator, from last weekend. Aside from the stalling out routine, it's been plowing snow like a beast this winter, even without my chains. Surprised me what it will do.
