I never wanted to dig in and chop up the plate so I went with one of these. I simply attach it to one of those appliance timers and have it turn on about a few hours before I need to get out and clear the driveway.

Even though I do have a NOS CC lower heater hose heater and a NOS CC battery warming mat, I think this was the easiest for me. Let us know how it goes.
