The jugs are the same from what I've heard...however, you must use gaskets between the jugs and the block on jugs that had gaskets there, and RTV on jugs that had RTV there...that is the difference. The heads might be slightly lower compression (that's how they bumped the KT-17 up to 18 hp when they made it into the M18), but they will work. All you have to do for the carb swap is bolt it on and go. Some carbs need the hole in the throttle arm enlarged to fit the linkage design on some of the later engines.
