Here is a shot of the mystery port/fitting/adjustment thingie I mentioned earlier. In the discussions of the ins and outs of bleeding the fuel lines, I don't seem recall this particular item being talked about. Here it is circled in the attached pic. You can see the bleeder to the right, which I have become quite familiar with.
I have tinkered with it, and basically it is a small stud with a slot for making adjustments with a flat head screwdriver. If you remove it all the way, there is a spring attached to the end. Once you have finished the adjustment, the surround nut is tightened down to hold it in place. It behaves vaguely like an idle setting. I adjusted it with the engine running at low speed, looking for the smoothest idle. It seemed to work, because the little Kubota is finally running well.
BUT, does anyone know what it is and how to properly adjust it? I don't like guessing when I can learn how to do it properly. Thanks!
