Some newer blowers do have the paddles. They sell replacements at my local TSC. I did it to mine because the PO dented up the housing and bent an impeller fin. Plus we tend to get the wet snow more often and it does improve your distance with heavy snow. Both blowers I have have a good 1/2" clearance between the fin and the housing.
