I feel the Queitline was designed to help keep the neighborhood quiet,
NOT protect the operator,,,,,
The dB noise at a distance was lower, you did not disturb the neighbors as much.
As far as the operator, if you want to have good hearing when you are 70,
use hearing protection whether you are on a QL or behind a pepperpot silenced Gravely,,
