2284 Update / question.
First an update on the 2284.
I didn't get much mowing out of it before I blew the PTO belt. Replaced it and mowed for about an hour when the PTO stopped working.
Took a look and the belt had jumped off the mule drive pulley and had also twisted and was running on its back and starting to shred from catching the edges of the pulleys. Also
noticed some bands from the belts wrapped behind the pto pulley. Going to have to pull the pulley off, but the PTO act like it's engaging (can hear it click when I flip the switch
and have continuity at the pto harness with the switch in the on position).
I'm guessing one of the mule drive pulleys isn't lined up correctly.
I have gotten some other work out of it though. My dad and I each decided to modify my brother's atv disc to mount on the three point without bothering to ask him. Dad decided
it be better to build an adapter to move it back from the tire a little bit but it could have been mounted without the bracket. Doesn't do a bad job.
I'll admit that I got the idea to reconfigure it from one of the forums. Not sure if it was this one or another. I originally thought of building one out of a disc I pulled out of my grove
of trees and I may still do that as the atv disc doesn't quite cover my tracks. I do need to build a weight bracket for the front though so the front bumper will be coming off.
Think I'll make the weight bracket to fit the 40 lbs John Deere style weights as they're the cheapest I've been able to find.
Also thinking of building a rock box to mount on it.
Now for my question.
Dad noticed yesterday that the front lift arms on the deck hanger bracket appear to be bent. Should they be bent as in the pics below or should they be straight and could that cause
my belts to twist?
