Years ago I bought a 78' Kawasaki 750 motor cycle and the PO left alittle fuel int he tank, well it caused condensation in the tank and it rusted inside. I was pointed towards a product called POR15. But it was specifically for gas tanks. It was a two part process. Check out the link....

I would assume this would work for your cub tank.
