As I understand it, on the early rims, the area where the centers attached to the rim was greater (or open spaces were smaller), may be more, but that is the easily identified trait. Here is a picture I got somewhere of the early rim (saved from another conversation on this subject)
Also, as I understand it, there were NO IH rear rims in the early tractors with the valve stem on the inside. Those are likely another maker's rims (have heard WH, Sears, etc.).
