I went looking again today. Our local hardware store also repairs lawn equipment and garden tractors. I could not find any compression type spring there that would even come close to compressing those fan tabs. Their mechanic seems to be a knowledgeable man since he cautioned me not to run the tractor without the fan. He said they had nothing that would hold the fan on the shaft with just pressure. His suggestion was to use a hose clamp that you tighten with a screw driver and also use epoxy before tightening. He said the slight offset weight of the screw should not be enough to throw the shaft off balance. What do you guys think of that as a fix???
