I once owned a 1420 and if I recall it had the same rear in it. I had a similar problem. My difficulty was on the gear side of the tranny. One of the gears, I believe it was the differential gear had 4 bolts through it and those bolts would work loose and fall into the gears locking everything up and breaking gear teeth in the process. I had tried loctite which did not work. As a last resort I spot welded those bolt heads and even that broke and I was rid of that machine. The dealer said that tranny was a poorly engineered rear and was just junk.
