K, right now I have the new filter on per spec. And I have the rear cover and gasket on with all the bolt snugged down but not very tight at the moment.
The gasket liquid the PO used was light grey, sort of just looked like silicone caulking to me and there were a few places where metal met metal between the cover and the rear end. Surprised it wasn't leaking, but then again he was very liberal with it's application.
I think Matt might have the exact numbers, which will be a good place to start so I can make sure I get it right the first time and hopefully no leaks.
