Matter of fact, he said it smokes on start-up. If you are willing to pay $1000 for a nice QL, I have 2 I want to sell you! I don't mean to be/sound harsh, but a grand is way overpriced for any QL in this ones condition.
I did say I'd pay up to $1000 for everything you just said up there..the new motor, new paint, all the mods on motor mounts....basically I meant it would have to look and run like a new machine. Which to me, going to Lowes or Home Depot and looking at a new Cub, or John Deere. I'd be paying 2.5x that amount for a new machine. A new machine that isn't built nearly as nice as the old ones. My old man threw the 1250 I have beside the shed because it started smoking after 20 years of constant use. Now he has a toro with all the goodies, well had all the goodies cause half of them don't work anymore. The cruise control went out, had to get a new power steering pump, the motor already smokes on start up and this is all within in the first 10 years. So yea, the cub he is looking at is watered down. But some of the cubs I've seen watered down don't look half as good as that the one the OP is looking at. But then again, its just picture. Go take a look and decide what its worth to you.

And no, I don't want your two QL's as the one QL I have now is more then enough work now that I have it in a 1,000 peice's.
