Default 1650 cylinder shot

Pretty new to the forum been lurking here for a while. Rebuilt the carb on 1650 didn't know you were suppose to locktite throttle plate screws, they vibrated loose sucked into cylinder scored badly. Had a friend of a friend look it over and said also alot of play side to side on piston. he said the cylinder is part of the block and would be expensive to repair and said would reccomend finding a new mower.

I'm not much of a mechanic but I did replace the head gasket before the carb rebuild didn't know enough to check for cylinder slop tractor seemed like it had good power before but used a little oil, smoked very little. Does anyone have any advice as far as repairs or what is the best way out. What would be the cost of boring cylinder. The tractor is in good shape hydro works well needs a little adjustment on neutral setting. Thanks, Tim
