I've been mowing with a 108 for 35 years. Mostly in 2nd gear. Never thought it was too fast or too slow. Seemed just right. Well, it was too slow for short/light grass duty and too fast for tall/heavy grass duty. But seemed to be a reasonable compromise. My terrain is some flat, some steep hillsides.

Now I learn that my 1000 has a different gear ratio than the 108s.

PS-- I also can shift easily between 1-2-3 without touching the engaged creeper.
