I adjusted the timing. Lined up the S on the flywheel and set the valves - intake .010, exhaust .018. & set the points .020. I tried starting it again. shaft turned normally [better then it has] ...for about 2 sec' then started dragging again. Starter motor got real hot.
I think the starter is over heating and perhaps causing some of the issue. So timing is presumably good (as far as I can tell) I put a new regulator on. Also the solenoid ( I think) started humming after a I tried starting it a couple times it comes and goes. You think perhaps it got damaged with all the messing around. What do you think about the starter getting hot? I put a Volt meter on it and seemed like a lot of power loss.
I think we're heading in the right direction.
