Welcome to OCC! Glad to have another wide frame gear drive fan onboard!
I'm working on restoring one now. Thread is titled "deal on a 1000" on this forum. It was not running and had multiple issues when I found it. Engine is currently at the machine shop getting bored for a rebuild. Some of the issues I ran into and resolved might be of interest.
Even if it is running well, you should check the iso mounts (rubber mounts under the engine support rails), the drive shaft flex joint, both subject to wear and eventual failure. Otherwise, they are rugged machines, and any other issues would be apparent in operation (loose steering, worn clutch, etc).
