BTW, I think you mis-typed your heading. They didn't start making the 582's until 1979. You perhaps have a 1984?

Thanks for that imformation. I got this 582 last year from e-bay and I was told 1974 582.The tractor has been good to me all last season so I plan on taking good care of it for as long as I can.The motor says 16 horspower and the air cleaner says 18 hp.So it may have had an engine swap.At any rate her are some pics of my progress so far.
I removed the tank and the front sheet metal to access the roll pin in the shaft .Punched out like butter.Now to get the pressure plates turned
