You are of course correct, but so am I. 1 mil is NOT the same as 1mm.
Think about plastic poly sheeting (e.g., drop cloths, vapor barrier, etc) --they are labeled with thickness in mils, or thousandths of an inch as are so many other things. My blue nitrile disposable gloves for example are 5 mils. Definitely NOT 5mm thick.
