Thanks Mike, The s/g took a nose dive just on the last load. Would not start so I removed it and the pulley shaft will turn easy, then hard. I think the brushes or bearings went bad. The working volt meter on board shows a charge of about 13.75, so that still was working. The 71 would not start back up, sometimes a click-click, got dark so its in the cub shop. Should be able to come up with a repair in the morning.
I should have stopped and swapped out the s/g when I was hearing funny little noises. Guess in the near future I will be learning how to inspect, test, and re-build the good 'ol Delco Remy!
