My Dad had an early 80s vintage Homelite saw with a 16" bar that ran like a monster for YEARS... He bought it at a garage sale in the late 80s for $15...
Someone stole it a few years back...

He replaced it with an Echo that seems to be a good saw, but is 4x the cost of the modern Homelite version. That old Homelite stuff was actually very good equipment for its price range. The new stuff is total crap.

Past that, I think we have a Montgomery Ward saw with a 20" bar that is still a monster as well.. No telling how old it is for sure, but I'm guessing the early 70s or late 60s. That thing has fell many giant trees!
