I used a porter cable clipped head framing nailer and never had a problem with it for 6 yr.i definitely got my money's worth out of it.
If you do a lot of decks that require a lot of metal hardware I used a hitachi pos placement nailer,the time saved paid for itself in 2 years use

Of course with any framing nailer there is a possibility of shooting one into your hand . Btdt with both guns.ringshank nails are a little harder to pull out...
