thanks for the help and replies. I will toss in a new battery in the next few days and see how long the hour meter runs after turning off the key. If it does as most say, runs for a few seconds, I will just assume it is the nature of the beast. If it runs contiuously or for longer than 1/2 of a minute, I will order a new ignition switch.
