mcarlson,
I worked on one of these ( see thread on here) but it hasn't thrown a flake of snow yet Still looks pretty good. I started it about this time last year. I kept mine stock. Yes these are not nearly as good as the two stages from what I have heard.
I did make a handle for turning the chute. These seem to get lost real easy. Good luck with the restoration.
