Friction Bushing Repair
ozarkarky: I replaced the bushing in my 149 this year and uttered a few choice words in the process --it is just difficult to get your hands in to it. Mine had been worked on before, and it was very difficult to get a wrench on it. I know wound up replacing the nut and bolt, and I had to spread the cast piece slightly.
In fact, although it wasn't strictly necessary, I remember getting the cast piece out in my hands. I would NOT recommend beating on it, as it is a fairly fragile part.
So, looking at the diagram in Parts Lookup, I un-bolted Item 16 in the inset P/N IH-545516-R1, Support, Control Rod for tractors Serial No. 425999 & below; mine had not been converted, just so I could get it apart. Then I could get to the clamp bolt.
