Well, What do you think of this then? I disassembled my old red 782 this week. It had about 1250hrs on it, and had a tired KT17 series 1, and would run good for 15min, then loose power. It used as much oil as fuel, and then the rear end started to leak. So, needing a winter project I decided to do a full restoration on it. I pulled off the rear cover, and the top inspection cover from the rear end today and found burnt stinking fluid, and lots and lots of metal shavings and chunks in the rear end.

note how dirty the hydro pump was in the pics.

I your opinions, Do you think the hydro pump could be smoked? Can they be rebuilt?

Can I get new guts for the rear end?

Look at the pics and see what you think. I have no idea yet what broke, but something is in pieces inside there.
