Yup, the REAL early (in fact, prototype early) had foot rests without holes to provide traction for your feet, however they realized that was a big flaw when you have wet feet  Some prototypes also had different castings on the front of the trans, and slightly different rear fenders. These are things I'm sure you will NEVER see, but it always a good thing know I case you run across one of the last prototypes
