Default spark plug thread repair- cleanup?

Guys,

My threads looked well-very worn so when I was at the machine shop they put a insert into the head. THe sparkplug reach is 1/2 on a 216 so the tip is flush with the top of the head. The head is approximately 3/4 thick at that point... So I've got ~0.25 inch of unused oversized threads internal.

I was thinking on smoothing that out- looks kinda gnarly. Maybe use a deburing tool and sand/file etc to blend it out a bit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was going to plane the head on sandpaper on glass or our rock counter top(Wife approving). Maybe cut it a bit with 100 grit and then go 220/320??
