IIRC, when the quietlines came out, they still had the wire spring clips and they really had an issue with the grills falling out. During the quietline production, they actually changed to the screw on technique later in the series. If I'm wrong on this, someone please correct me.

As far as the 1X8/1X9 series, the worst part is the heat from the mufflers and what the heat does to plastic grills.

I've gotten quite a few with modified grill holders from romex wire to twine.
