Well I'm on my 3rd CI change over. I'm no expert, as every time I do one I find another thing to do use change, etc.

First thing is you'll need a doner. I've used 147 and 107 rears so far. This one is a 1450,. You'll need to order a new welch plug for the doner trans. I would post pics, but I lost all mine recently. Order all new gaskets new seals. The seals can be had at car quest or NAPA. The hardest part is setting the pinion depth. I don't do like Matt did on his site cause I don't have the tools, and its a hydro and not a gear drive. Also with straight gears its not as critical as the curved.

You'll have to remove the brake lever from the CI and do away with it. Then simply just take it apart via the manual, and reassembly per the manual of the CI, using the tolerances from it.

As far as why people do the CI change over is cause most time when we get the tractors there's a bolt or something broken already. The aluminum one from Allen's, someone had been into. Not to mention the trunion shaft looked new. I've seen over the years just a hand full of rears on different sites where guys have gotten tight ones. I also have talked with people that say the cat o hitch also strengths the frame and rear. Also these frames weren't heat treated like the other 82 series tractors. With the extra length in the tunnel cover you can feel the frame flex. I replaced my regular screws in the tunnel cover with some metal self tappers from a metal roofing job, that someone had left a full bag on the scissor lift.

The one I'm doing now will be used for the loader. So the extra 60 lbs will be helpful. But it comes down to some common sense, you have to check them bolts. Also the CI use a single bolt in the mounting ears, so if it comes loose, it will move, the aluminum binds and breaks.

Bottom line look at the manual a few times, I just look at them for the pics, LOL and take a look at Matt's write up, it will help and keep my number call if you have problems, Ill do the best I can to help, Duke said it was OK if I help people here
