Sounds like you're on the right track. First, cut the driveshaft at the factory line. Make sure to cut it square. You will reuse the coupler that originally hooked the driveshaft to the input shaft. You now will put that coupler on front of the creeper and hook that to the new, shortened driveshaft. I just did it on my 800 and it works great. Good luck and show up some pics!!
